Do you Listen to your Dad’s Financial Advice?

Once upon a time there was a man named Josychan. He finished his education and began working as a manager in a luxury hotel. Josychan was so happy about his first job. He could now realize all of his ambitions. He dreamed about having his own car. He didn’t have enough money because he recently started working. He talks about it with his father.

His father said , “Josychan, I understand you want to own a car, but it is too early to buy,” his father said.

Josychan replied, “Early?” I thought you would be happy with my decision.”

“I am delighted for you, my son,” Josychan’s father said. However, you have only recently started your new job. You should put money aside for difficult times. Furthermore, rather than purchasing a car entirely on loan, you should wait some time and save some money.”

“Oh, daddy. You are so old-fashioned. Why should I wait when I can have the car right now? Life is very short. We only have one life. I don’t want to save money by sacrificing my dreams. And what difficult times? Do you believe I’ll lose my job? “You doubt my ability?” Josychan responded.

“No Josychan.” I have no doubts about your abilities. I am confident that you will succeed in life. However, we must always be prepared for the worst. Furthermore, I am not saying that you want to wait forever. Wait a couple of years and save some money for an emergency as well as some money for your car downpayment,” Josychan’s father explained.

“I don’t understand what emergency you’re talking about. Do I have to save money for years to buy a car? “I can’t wait any longer,” Josychan replied and he walked away.

Josychan decided to take a car loan. He applied for the loan, and it was granted. He was now the proud owner of his own car. He was pleased with himself. His dream had come true.

One day when he awoke, he read about a new virus that had begun to spread throughout the world. It was infectious. It would spread from person to person. Nobody could come up with any solution for this new disease. Everyone was scared. This virus gradually spread throughout his own country. Travel was prohibited by the government. Suddenly, the travel industry began to collapse. His hotel became empty. There was no income. The hotel’s owner fired him one day. Josychan was broken. He had never imagined himself in this situation. He didn’t have any savings. On top of that, he didn’t have enough money to pay off his car loan and the bank took off his car for non-payment of the loan amount. Josychan was unable to sleep at night. He lost his dignity and became shameful in front of others. He remembered his father’s advice and realized his mistake of not saving anything and taking out too many loans.

Moral of the story:

  •  Avoid taking too many loans.
